Septon™ is hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomers or hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer (HSBC) developed by Kuraray Co. Ltd. It is composed of styrene based hard blocks and diene soft block. There is a variety of Septon grades, from low styrene content (soft) to high styrene content (rigid), from low molecular weight (high flow) to high molecular weight (more rubber-light properties) and also different soft-block stuctures (etylene propylene(EP), etylene butylene (EB) and etylene etylene propylene (EEP)). Therefore, based on soft-block structure, Septon can be classified into SEPS, SEBS and SEEPS.

While SEBS is famous type of hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomer in the market, SEEPS is a special type which is developed by Kuraray Co., Ltd. Compared to SEBS, SEEPS has a lot of advantages likes higher tensile strength, better oil holding properties, smother surface, higher affinity of polyethylene and better low temperature.
