Hybrar™ is styrenic block copolymer that is developed by Kuraray Co., Ltd. which using Kuraray’ s unique isoprene technology. Hybrar have polystyrene end blocks and a vinyl rich polydiene midblock. Unhydrogenated Hybrar (5000-series) has high vibration damping and shock absorption properties because glass transition temperature (Tg) is near room temperature. On the other hand, hydrogenated Hybrar (7000-series) is miscible with polypropylene (PP) so that it is resulted in high transparency of blend between PP and hydrogenated Hybrar.

Characteristics of Hybrar™

  • High vibration damping properties at room temperature
  • High affinity to polyolefins and styrenics
  • Curable like vulcanized rubber
  • Rubber like elastic
  • Miscibility with polypropylene
  • Excellent transparency, flexibility and mechanical properties
  • Excellent heat and weather resistance

Application of Hybrar™

  • Sport equipments
  • Foamable sound damping sealants
  • Housing and construction components
  • Electronic components
  • Hearing protection
  • Film and sheet for medical packaging
  • IV bags and tubes
